Description:
Technicaly, the Barracuda was the first pony car, beating the Mustang to market by two weeks, though somewhat eclipsed by the Stang' and the Camaro/Firebird, no one overlooked it when it got a Hemi in it..... or a nuclear accident green paintjob..... |

The original Cuda was a Valiant with a fastback -- it was ugly, heavy and slow. The Mustang was an all-new design and really caught the public's attention.
But I **love** the '70 Cudas. Between them and the '68 Javelin, I don't know which is my favourite, but I'd be delighted to own either one of them... |

#3, The late 60's muscle cars are offten called "pony cars" if they were based off a midsized car chassis like the Baraccuda or the Camaro, small in size, but havigng 2+2 seating, a larger car, like the Chargers and Super Bees wouldn't be considered pony cars because they were boats by comparison |

in other words - midsized cars with big engines (one step down from the road boats with bigger engines) |

#2, Actually the original Barracuda was quite light, and no slower than the original Mustang. Also, the Mustang wasn't "all new", it was a Ford Falcon underneath.
As for the pic, note that while the orange car is a Barracuda turned into a quasi-Cuda clone, the green one appears to be a legit Cuda. |
