500cid (8.18L) Chevy V8. 780bhp. Top speed of over 250mph.
This car was designed to have the smallest frontal area possible (presumably for low-drag.) Dig the 10" rims.

Unfortunately tire wear and inefficient, overheating brakes cancelled out the benefits of the low drag. The Shadow did win the series the final year of CanAm, but by then they'd gone to a conventional design.

Yeah, I can't imagine what kind of brakes you could fit behind a 10" wheel but I doubt they'd be up to the task of stopping a 250mph race car.
