I'm not sure about the penetrating power of a .22 LR round, but it's better than nothing to have handy

Probably, this one is chambered for .22 LR's thats Long Rifle rounds, the same kind a .22 rifle would fire, and has two 10 round mags, single action, semiauto, was a good deal for a target pistol, cost about $280 on sale to purchase

yes, it can go a mile, the problem is that you'd have to shoot it at quite an elevation...how fast do the bullets travel?

According to Smith $ Wesson, the .22LR is actualy a pretty slow bullet, muzzle velocity of 1138 fps, but it's a target or small game load only, .22S, R, and LR rounds are the most commonly used ammo in the world, and the design of the cartridge dates unchanged almost all the way back to the Civil War

then it would go a mile in just over one second! egads, is that correct!? If so, you'd only need to fire it at least 16 feet off the ground and it'd hit the ground right about a mile away, so long as the ground was level the whole way (reply to #5)

#7, All I know is when I shoot old dinner plates, they fly apart instantaneoulsy after I pull the trigger :-)

#9, Yeah, most ammo loads for target shooting are designed to be sub-sonic for noise considerations and ease of operation by the casual shooter, they make an even slower round specificaly used for shooting small game like squirrels and mice without blowing them apart...

#6, so if they go 1138fps, you'd have to shoot it (level) from at least 74 feet off the ground (negating air resistance) and it'd go a mile in 4.7 seconds (also negating air resistance)

#10, Nah, they fly apart nice, I usualy use empty soda cans or plastic bottles if I want to plink somthing, otherwise, it's 20 yd. paper targets
