#2, We had a 3rd-gen RS, and I seem to recall that it had a 305. |

#6, Don't know where you got that. The late 3rd gen RSs could be had with a V6 or a 305 V8. |

#6, Ours was an '89, which looks to be about the same year as this one. |

judging by that spoiler - this appears to be a later model 3rd gen - i'd say 92.
then by skid's logic in post #7 - this could very likely have the said 305.

www.Thirdgen.org says:
the RS came about in 1987 with a 2.8 as the only availble engine.
the RS continued on until 1989 when a 2.8 and 5.0 engine were both offered.
the RS was availble with a 3.1 and a 5.0 engine in 1990 and that contined untill the 4th body change in 1993. |

I think the RS was the replacement for the Berlinetta. |

#16, sounds about right.
the Berlinetta dropped off in 1986.
the RS picked up in 1987. |

#16, Probably.
Ours was nice, but there was something wrong with the ignition computer and it kept randomly shutting off when the car was stopped. Not a stall, mind you: the car literally shut down as if you had turned the key off. |
