#1, A crappy base model Benz? I'm sure their base model is better than most companies' high-end cars.

#3, Common misconception of many Americans... In Europe, Mercedes is "just another car company"...they make busses, trucks, economy cars, entry-level cars...

Hell, in some countries, most of their taxi fleet is composed of Mercedes Benzes.

#6, well look at the 240ds from the 70s and early 80s. weren't fast or flashy but are like the most reliable car ever made.

#7, I almost got a Mercedes 240D as my first car, and I'd say it was roughly the equivalent of my Volvo, in terms of construction and equipment. Simple, but very solid.

#7, I know how reliable those Diesel Mercedes Benzes are...both my dad AND my grampa owned 1973 220Ds... My dad racked up 350,000+ miles on his, and my grampa racked up 150,000+ on his.

My dad sold his to get his '90 Dodge Monaco (now THAT was a lemon. But at least it didn't have a 0-60 time of 26 seconds.)

My grampa sold HIS just last year, to a collector of Diesel Mercedes Benzes... he didn't sell it to get another car...he already has an '88 Escort wagon and an '89 Park Avenue Electra. He just didn't need a third car after the passing of his wife.

Typical half assed job, it's clear only one of the exhausts is hooked up to the engine. Pathetic.
