after reading that bit at the front about the corvair - and then leafing throught the rest of the book - i've come to the conclution that ralph nader hates GM and really was the first ricer.

I disagree with Ralph Nader on his views of cars (he basically thinks we should all be driving Niagra Falls barrells with wheels), but I do appreciate a lot of what he's done for consumer protection and fighting business corruption.
I also sympathize with him over GM hiring private detectives to follow and harass him, although he wasn't justified in the hatchet job he did on the Corvair (the NHSA later concluded that the Corvair was as safe - if not safer - than most other cars from that time).
