#2, freight trains can't do burnouts. They do sparkouts (steel wheels and steel tracks)
methinks this was some really hot fire. |

That is definitely melted, a tank would barely scratch rails. Trees are so also intact, so ruling out any fire. Spacing is just right though, so it must of been melted by the wheels.
Emergency stop maybe? The wheels are made of higher grade steel alloy, so they have a much higher melting point than rails.

THis was track vandalism, someone melted the rails w/ a torch hoping to cause a wreck, luckily, someone spotted the damage before a train hit this, it would have certainly caused a derailment |

#9, Absolutely, this pic is also on several other railroad related sites, the method was some kind of heater bar tool was used, layed accross the track and allowed to melt down into it like a knife sitting on a stick of butter |
