I've always wondered something. On some newer cars with 2 tips, do they have 2 real pipes, or are they just one pipe with 2 tips

Usually the latter on Japanese cars. Some domestics like F-Bodies and GT/Cobra Mustangs have true dual exhausts.

#11, its cheaper to run one pipe back, especially with the more expensive stainless steel pipes that they put on for less warranty repair

#13, 'es true... I think they run duals to a single cat and then split out again???? My Monte did the same thing, since 1 cat is cheaper than 2. Now... I have no cats and true duals... one header and pipe per side

The V8 Thunderbirds had a single pipe for most of the vehicle's length, and then a "Y" just in front of the rear bumper. Mustang GTs have true duals, which I think may have an "H" pipe. I've got straight duals on my six (no H or X).

#12, ok

I was just tryin to clear it up cause me and my cousin had a fight over it

cuz: "look that Clipse has a dual exhaust"
me: "no, those are fart cans"
cuz: "well they're big, but they add power"
me: "how?"
cuz: "the power goes out 2 locations instead of one"
*Camaro passes by*

cuz: "NICE FART TIPS"
me: "no idiot, thats dual exhaust"
cuz: no it isn't, it's just one pipe with 2 locations"
me: "you know nothing Rich, its a real dual"

* riced Honda goes by*

cuz: "now thats a badass dual, man":

I leave after that
