Description:
one of modern science-fiction's best invention - the "Mech".

Too bad they are highly impractical and probably expensive too. Plus - just getting the individual parts made will be a bitch in engineering and a bitch in the wallet. Not to mention trying to make the damn thing stand up and walk!

But the intimidation factor (as well as the coolness) is through the roof! Just throw some techno music into it's cd player and start stomping your town (while looking cool at the same time!)

Even the Mechwarrior RPG's make light of the fact that they are exorbinantly expensive, that's why Infantry is still around in these games, set in years like 23XX or 27XX

The breakthough that we really need is some kind of synthetic material that can mimic organic muscle and sinew, all the actuators and cogs and ring gears you'd need to manipulate one of these would leave little room for much else

if this thing really walks and stuff... i could knock it down by raming it from behind with a pick up and it wouldnt be able to get up again

try to make killing mechine walk look or act like human = stupid. attatch the upper part to a tank now that'd be " killa"

#7, I don't think ramming a 30 ton robot with a 2 ton truck is going to have the desired effect... .:)

#8, desired effect = mech falls forward

undesired effect - mech falls backward

#13, No, but once I had a Pheonix Hawk that had it's arms and one leg shot off, but they never hit the center torso, it was still polished when i got back to base with it!

couldn't you just take this thing out with a single armor-piercing 50 cal bullet?

i was a fan of battletech and mechwarrior years ago.. i've fallen away from mechwarrior a couple years after mw4 came out and now mw5.. still play the old battletech game every once in a while.. the new mechwarrior dark age game aint bad either.. nice for a quick game as opposed to many hours like in battletech..

that picture isnt any mech i know from the battletech universe.. and i know most of em pretty well.. it's not a Rifleman as #4 guessed.. the only real similarity with the rifleman is the arms i guess, but even those aren't right

and a real mech would be close to 10 meters tall.. this thing looks more like a powerarmor suit ;)
