#1, The bodies were built in Italy by Pininfarina, IIRC, then flown on a special 747 to America to have the mechanicals installed. These were actually VERY nice cars, but too expensive, and some of them had reliability problems.

Also, '93 was the last year of the Allante, and it's also considered the best year for the Allante since that was the only year they had the Northstar in them.

Cadillac had already done some work on the "facelifted" '94 Allante, but poor sales, and the aforementioned reliability problems left the Allante with not enough sales, and Cadillac cancelled the '94 model.

#5, Geez DiRF, the way you talk about cars makes me thing your just taking the facts straight from a magazine. Then again, maybe you'd make a great writer for an auto magazine.

#6, Not copying out of a magazine, copying it out of my mind.

The only reason I know so much about Allantes is because my high school physics teacher was a car nut, and LOVED his '93 Allante (he actually had a '91 Allante when I first had him as a teacher, but later sold it and got the '93 by the time the year was up), he taught me a lot about them.

#8, Nice, I wasnt really accusing you of copying, just saying the way you explain things is so..proffesional and stuff.

#5, if they had reliability problems, I can't see having the Northstar as being something to make them better

#10, I never said the Northstar solved the reliability problems...I just said it was a better car because of it.

Don't you think a Yugo with a Northstar would make it a better car than a Yugo without one? (Note: Not saying the Allante is as bad as the Yugo, by ANY means, just trying to make a point.)

#11, maybe I worded that wrong, I was refering to the 93s being considered the best year. sure they may have had more power, but I would think if reliability was a problem, the ones without a Nortstar would be considered better :-/

#12, Maybe I worded my posts wrong also...the reliability problems were NOT with the engine...it was with the body, drivetrain (not including the engine), electronics, etc. But they weren't BAD reliability problems, just a tad worse than Mercedes of equivalent years and such. I haven't heard bad things about Northstars, is there a problem with them that I'm not aware of?

I have heard of them pissing oil, plus I know of atleast 2 people that have had fairly new Nortstars blow for no reason, and from what I have heard, thats not uncommon

cadillac is better than mercedes, proven by studies in reliablity and customer satisfaction
mercedes wins the 'costing more' award though
