I'm behind the times... but what actually caused this? Originally, they were saying there was a lightning strike at Niagara Falls, but then they changed their minds.

The only thing I can think of is that guy on Airplane when he unplugged that plug from the wall outlet and all of the lights on the runway went out... "MWUAHAHAHAHHAHA!"
