I find it so stupid that the exhaust pipe, the waste tube, the smog pump, the tailpipe, etc...that all these exhaust components become a major styling point of the car, to a ricer at least. Possibly because they're the cheapest to "mod." Quite frankly I like that you can't see the muffler and exhaust tip on my Saturn unless you're at eye level with the bumper...by no means am I concerned with anyone's wastehole.

#1, Definately just copying a look, I was at Advance the other night, and noticed, my van was the ONLY vehicle that had a stock exhaust, there were 2 hondas with bonna-fide fartcannons, and a Lumina with chrome tips, and a subaru wagon with a chrome tip, it's suddenly become a status symbol or somthing

That tip actually reminds me of mine except mine are a lot smaller I'm sure. On my car you can see the tips real well anyway. Of course I didn't get them just for the tips though, it's a full 3" catback exhaust.

A town cop told my friend these are legal but cherry bombs arent, because it goes by decibals(sp?). To me these look and sound the same just chrome with a big tip.

95 db in california. Although up until recently, the only method a cop had to use to determine if it was too loud was his ear. You know, for a state with such a large car culture, we've got some pretty ass-backwards car rules.

#8, Maine doesn't go by db untill next year, but cars cant pass inspection ( or arent supposed to) unless they have factory spec exhaust

#7, They're also much more annoying than cherry bombs, but its amusing to think someones mowing the lawn down the street, look out the window and see some civic hatchback from the 90's with cardboard for windows driving down the street. In all honesty.

#9, so you can't (legally) put an aftermarket muffler on your car, or can you as long as the company provides you with the papers saying the sound level is legal?

#11, As far as I know you can't put an aftermarket anything dual pipes, headers, or mufflers unless the vehical is of a certain age. I think its anything before 84 now but idunno.
