In order to maximize his model T production, Henry Ford had this huge plant built in the late 1910's Complete with it's own steel mill, rolling mill and foundry facilities, the plant could literaly take coal and iron ore from barges on one side and spit out completed model Ts on the other. It even had an interal facility for producing the glass and rubber parts. At the height of it's production, this factory had a payroll that included 81,000 workers

Signs in the factory told workers "no smiling, laughing, or talking" or so I've heard.

#2, Well, can't comment on that. But I do know that Ford would offten send spies to observe his worker's personal lives, and based on what they saw, he would deny them bonuses or raises, he also tried for years to keep his workers from unionizing

#5, There's a pretty famous photo of some of Ford's goons tossing the UAW representative down a flight of concrete steps....

Wow... so Henry Ford didn't play around. Wonder if he was a pimp on the side.

I went this summer on a tour. They currently use the plant for F150s and Expeditions. Also the Mark LTs start out as F 150 bodies on frame with wheels, and most body parts, then they are loaded onto a truck and takek somewhere un disclosed to be finally assembled as Lincolns.
