From the AutoWeek coverage of SEMA 2003:

"REAR-DRIVE, V8 FOCUS RS8: Now Ford itself makes a kit that will allow you to put a V8 engine in a Focus and use the power to spin the rear wheels. And not just any V8. In this case it's the 5.0-liter "Cammer" V8 crate engine tuned to make 420 horsepower at 6700 rpm and 370 lb-ft at 5000 rpm. Mercy! The RS8 concept uses the European Focus RS as a donor, but when the kit comes out early next year it'll fit right in your U.S.-spec Focus. The kit is expected to cost about $5,000, but the Cammer V8 will sticker at $14,995. Then you have to put it in. So it ain't cheap. But won't it be fun to thrill the gang at the next club drifting event?"

The styling of the ZX3 hatchback has really grown on me; I never used to like those, but I think they at least look decent now.

Is this an aftermarket RWD conversion, or a legitimate "official" concept car?

Actually, I'd take this too. Even if it is a Ford.

It goes without saying that I'd drive a converted Focus. $15K for an engine is ludicrous, though.

#2, Me too. A co-worker has a decent-looking ZX3 but he has ugly-ass altezzas and a fart tip. :P

I saw a SVT Focus yesterday that would be nice except for the giant SVT that took up the whole side of the car.

#15, i was going to think that the last step would be the "old GNX/Typhoon/Syclone paint job" treatment (ALL glossy black - sans the rims) - but then i'm reminded that this is a Ford.

(i know some syclones and typhoons came in white - but a glossy black seems to be the predominiate color i've seen pictures of)

#16, Yep, reminiscent of the 94-96 Impala SS also (only came in black, green-gray and a wine color). That reminds me though, the Marauder is in all black.

#8, not really, its a brand new engine thats not been put in any cars yet, its not going to be cheap. no if they put it in the new GT, all you would have to do is watch to junkyards. and this is still a hell of a lot cheaper then the 03 cobra swap witch tops out at 80k (with car and IRS swap)
