Can anyone give me a figure on about how much all the models from this generation of 300ZX weighed? I really want to get one, but they always seem so bulky to me, I'm looking for nimble. |

#1, ~3600 lbs. Nimble would be a Datsun 240, 260, or 280Z. Or an RX-7, if you're mechanically ambitious. |

#2, oh, shit. Yeah, that's a bit on the heavy side. Course, they're also built pretty damn tough. Hard decision. I'd want an RX7, but, I've helped my friend work on his 1988 10th Anniversary for some time now and that thing is a hideous bitch goddess. |

#3, All Japanese sports cars of this time period got bloated. The Supra, the RX-7, the 300ZX, and even the Eclipse a little bit. They all wanted to go the the GT/luxury route, which turned them into heavy luxury coupes rather than true sports cars. If you want something nimble, it would just about half to be something older. What I mentioned in #2, or also a Mark III Supra would be a good choice. |

#6, The RX-7 of this period was actually the only exception. It was light, hard and very fast. |

#7, The RX-7 did gain a little weight, though (around '93 or '94). Not nearly as bad as the Supra or 300ZX, but it sort of followed the same trend. |

#9, It got bigger certainly, but it was actually very light and engineered to be so. It was the car that started of that whole drilled pedal thing. I think the worst offender of the heavy, ugly, too expensive Japanese sports car era was the Mitusbushi 3000GT/Dodge Stealth. Ugly, FWD based, expensive and not THAT fast. |

#10, yeah, the 3000GT had a reputation of breaking down alot if it wasn't treated like a precious jewel too. My uncle got one when he started making lots of money as a surgeon and he'd have to take it in to the shop to get the transmission or some random thing fixed every few thousand miles or so. I believe he said he replaced the tranny 2-3 times before deciding to sell it to some punk kid. |

Without a doubt. The only reason I didn't mention them before was because they didn't get bigger, they were made bloated in the first place. |
