also I'm not sure if it's a V6 or V8 since the other photos called it a V8. if it is a V6 then that extra pipe is rice

How could they ruin a perfectly good camaro like that?
After previously owning an 83 camaro, the cars are far from being my favorite thing to own. Fun to drive, way to costly in repairs. But still, I wouldn't do something like that to any car. Nothing deserves that sort of punishment.

#1, "if it is a V6 then that extra pipe is rice" Um, why? Last time I checked, it still had two banks of cylinders, not that the "dual" setup on the V8 cars is all that impressive, either.

#4, Yes, but it's not as if it's a completely nonfunctional thing to add a second one. Although on an F-body it's really only another outlet on the muffler.

Now is this a V6 or an L6?
And dual ex does make more sense on here than on a Civic with like a 1.6L engine.

I think they'd given up putting I6's in pony cars by then.

#7, The only inline engines that I know of, that have more than 4 cylinders, are Volvo's, and GM's new I5 and I6 truck engines...oh yeah, and of course, the bigass Cat and Cummins inline diesel engines.

#8, At earlier points in their history, the Mustangs (for example) were indeed available with an I6, if I recall correctly. Also, Ford had a 200?-250-300 I6 family; their 300 was designated 4.9L which is why they named the 302 a 5.0 (to differentiate it). You've also missed Toyota/Lexus and Nissan, both of whom are very fond of I6s. Oh, and BMW--they make I6s in the ~2-3L range.

#9, And Mopar had various "slant 6" engines.

The BMW example is particularly interesting because they've used the I6's inherent vibrational stability to make a very smooth, refined powerplant. My mother's Z3 uses a 2.3L version of this engine, and the smaller "M" cars (M3, M Roadster, etc.) use a 3L variant.

#9, Shit...forgot about those...Nissan uses I6's? Or is that an engine that America doesn't get? I thought the VQ 3.5 (that's the name of it, right?) was a V.

#11, Nissan only uses I6s in their Japanese domestics, as far as I know. The RBx (RB20, RB26, etc) series are very popular I6 engines with incredibly high RPM capabilities (unsurprising, because Nissan has used variants of those engines for racing). The RB25 and RB26DETT engines have also been used in their Skyline.

#10, I was thinking more of modern engines...can't think of any modern applications of the Mopar slant 6 :P

...and Mercedes used to make some I6's, as did Jaguar, and almost every other Western European manufacturer...

#13, You didn't say modern applications, though. At any rate, though, they are still used in cars, but they're not all that common because they aren't a terribly efficient use of space. My mom's Z3 only displaces ~2.3L, but its engine is vastly longer than mine, necessitating a longer nose.

#14, At any rate, though, I know that Nissan (Japan mainly), Toyota/Lexus (IS300) and BMW (various models, mostly 3-series) are all using I6s to this day.

In the end, I feel sorry for this poor camaro.

#8, You forgot about the single engine ricers are most likely to be found rolling naked in photos of: the Toyota 2JZ-GTE.

#17, Yeah, but I covered it, so it all comes out OK. The 2JZ-GE (not GTE) is, oddly enough, still in use by Lexus.

#1, yeah because nothing other than a V8 can benefit from true dual exhaust...*sigh*

Well, Supras and Skylines have I6s... at least they did. Not sure about the R35 and the Supra got dropped.
