An X-Ray, made of the stomach of a 62-year-old man who came to the emergency room of Cholet General Hospital in western France in 2002. He had a history of major psychiatric illness, was suffering from stomach pain, and could not eat or move his bowels. Doctors discovered an enormous opaque mass in his stomach that turned out to weigh 12 pounds, as much as some bowling balls. The patient had swallowed around 350 coins, along with assorted necklaces and needles.

#1, It caused his stomach to hang way down and they had to remove it. He died of complications days later.

If I recall, it's an actual disorder called compulsive swallowing. People just grab stuff (usually highly specific items like paper clips or something; it's a weird habit) and swallow it. There are a couple Guiness records for it, too.

#7, I saw an episode of E.R. once (rerun midday on TNT) where there was this woman was addicted to having surgery, so she would swallow very dangerous stuff just so she could be operated on.

But, of course, that's TV...not real life...

I have a habit of swallowing edible objects, like steak, fries, and other "food" items.
