Ill just copy/paste my freepost update...
Birthday (friday) CD player update- Got a Kenwood CD/MP3/WMA player for about 150. So I get home and we (me, camino83 and a friend) rip out my stock deck, which takes entirely too much effort (stupid Honda) Then we wire up the new deck, just to test it, by doin the twisty thing (no coverage of wire...I know, stupid) and guess what- wires that shouldnt touch touch and pop it goes. Blew the car's radio fuse and now we think probably the radio's wiring too. >_< Replaced the fuse already, so that shouldnt be an issue. But I got a mounting kit, so that part should be easy as pie. We just have to rewire a certain part of the car... Nothings wrong with the car itself, it still runs just fine, its just that the wires to the radio are...well..out of commission. And yes, the battery was disconnected. So one day and two headaches later (had to be at some weird angles to get to all the stuff in that little car) I have one ghetto looking Honda with no rad- |

Oh and I forgot the last update.. checked the fuse box under the hood and found out that the 7.5A radio back-up fuse was blown too, so I replaced that. BUT thanks to my 5 page government paper that I procrastinated on.. I havent had a chance to plug in the deck to see if it works now.. Gr. >: | So tomorrows commute will SUCK ASS because I have a new inlet for road/engine noise (pictured above) as well as the obvious fact that I will have nothing to listen to other than said road/engine noise... MxCx = t3h not happy. MxCx = t3h pissed. etc, etc |

You wouldn't belive the amount of work it takes to swap a head unit in a T-Bird/Cougar. Its like Ford didn't want any thing but the factory unit in there. |

The only problem I had was the spark from too many wires touching. If it wasnt for that little moment of genius Id have a new headunit in my car.. not to mention a better mood. |

#10, helps to put wire connectors on right away. Sets it up nicely for connecting it to the aftermarket harness. That and unhooking the negative battery cable should keep that from happening again. |

No the spark happened when we were testing it. I just got impatient and wanted to hear it. Sounded pretty damn good for the 10 or so seconds it was on tho :P And I got connectors on now, in the picture even. Bought an installation kit, so once I get the wiring all figured out/fixed, mounting should be no problem whatsoever.
For those that dont know, the installation kit fits right into the stock space.

Boy howdy does my stereo sound great now. Two new midrange speakers (180w Infinity 2 way to add to the 220w Pioneer 3 ways), an equalizer (no pre-amp, tho), a new amp (1700w 4 channel, bitches!), a 1.5 farad cap and two new subs (600w 12in) REALLY make a difference :P
Now for those tweeters I never got..and a car alarm. |
