Description:
When an unsponsored car driven by a guy who hasn't won a race since 1990 qualifies in 5th place for a Nextel Cup race, it turns some heads.

Derrike Cope, who won the Daytona 500 in 1990, and one other race that year, driving a car for a single-car team that just started up last year. Impressed the hell outta me.

Also, this is the same team that had sponsor problems...not the way you think. The HAD a sponsor, but NASCAR dissapproved, and told them to remove the decals after one race with that sponsor. The sponsor? http://www.RedneckJunk.com

Because of that, the owner of RedneckJunk.com has actually officially changed the name and logo of the site to "RJunk.com", but hasn't gotten that URL set up yet. Hopefully NASCAR will allow Cope to run "RJunk.com" as a sponsor..

Looks so plain without so many big, ugly logos. :D

#2, Here's how the car looked when it actually had a sponsor, the race before NASCAR told them to stop running that sponsor.

Almost makes me wonder what those cars would look like without all the "little" sponsors.

#4, Eh, closest two I could come up with.
http://jayski.thatsracin.com/scheme...ch/8rock-re.jpg ran late last year in the Busch series, as a tribute to the car Ralph Earnhardt (Dale Jr.'s grampa, Dale Sr.'s father) raced in the '50s.
http://jayski.thatsracin.com/scheme...dmp-diecast.jpg Couldn't find an image of the real car. But it DID run like that, no sponsors, no contingency sponsors (those "little" sponsors).

NOTE: Contingency sponsors aren't mandatory, but if you don't have the contingency sponsor sticker, you aren't eligible for the various cash prizes those companies sponsor.
