For about 10 to 15 years, George Selden had a patent on the automobile, and was getting royalties from every car company in buisness at the time (around 1900-1910) Untill Henry Ford took him to court and the courts ruled that Selden only had a patent on cars powered by 2 cycle engines, Fords was a 4 cycle, and Selden got to kiss his royalties goodbye
