#1, More or less.... well, you acutaly have two options

You fuckup in a way that you have to "big hole" it (that's railroad slang for throwing the emergency brake) and bringing everything to a grinding halt that , although not really modeled in the game, in the real life would do thousands of dollars of damge to equipment (flat spots on wheels, scorched brake shoes, damaged cargo) and would require you to wait 20 minutes or more to re-charge all the air in your brake system before you could move again

Or you get a really SPECTACULAR fuckup in which you get a 30 car pile-up. Just so you know, I've read NTSB reports, the cost of a single 50 car train derailment, when it's all added up (damaged cars, damaged track, damaged locomotive, damaged signals & structures and cleanup/scrapping) usualy costs a nice $5 MILLION dollars........

Heh, I was just goofing around in the game tonight. There's about 200 miles of track modeled in the game, but the "missions" in the game use only about 30% of it. There's an "Explore route" option where you can actualy use the parts you never see in the rest of the game.

Unfortunately, these parts weren't heavily beta-tested, and there are places where the track coding in program is faulty, and they cause you train to suddenly uncouple, or derail, no matter HOW you are driving it.

Well, I was "highballing" it on a long stretch of track near Pardue, Montana, where there's no grade, no obstructions, and the speed limit is 60 mph, which I was doing, with 2 engines and 40 auto-carrying cars

I unexpectedly hIt one of the "glitch" switches, and had the most spectacular derailment you ever saw.......

Ever see a 100 ton freight car do cartwheels?
