That would be a B-52G painted in SAC anti-flash. My Dad Flew B-52's & F-4's for about 15 years. That is a awsome picture.

Nope. Its got the short tail and the alternator cells on the side of the engine pods, and no tale gunner window. Can't be an H, either because it doesn’t have the shrouds for the turbofan engines.

The G's had the quad .50's, but the gunner sat up front with the rest of the crew. On the A-F's the gunner sat in the tail and had a large green-house window. The H was the one that had the 8 barrel gattling gun.

ya. Still sucks that they took the gun out of the H's. That would of been a cool job to have.

If my memory doen´t fool me again, the quad 50´s (even compared to the 20mm Vulcan) have actually been quite useful during LinebakerII over Vietnam. They downed 4 or so NV MIGs.

Nothing ever got shot down with the 20 mm the H's sat nuclear alert during Vietnam the older BUFF's got sent, but ya B-52's shot down 4 migs.
