#4, HEI PSUEDO SPORKEN!

Seriously, though, I was reading some street racing story once on an online performance magazine (readers submitted them, almost all of them were obvious bullshit) called "My Genuine Spoon CRX", about some guy who had a "Spoon 1989 CRX" and beat something like an RX-7 or a Supra from a 65 mph roll.

Did Spoon ever even tune '89 CRXes?

#6, Some others I recall:

Some guy who claims to have beaten a Monte Carlo SS that was blasting '80s music with a Don-Johnson lookalike driving it (the guy writing the story, BTW, was driving a "dope Del Sol").

Someone who claims to have raced his McLaren against an 1100 hp blown Hemi Cuda in Costa Rica

A '71 Olds Cutlass with a Richmond 5 speed and a B&M Torque converter (!?!?!?) that hit 200 mph while racing a Civic.

Well, B&M does make higher-stall speed converters for drag cars, I've seen them in catalogues

#9, Well, waddya know, that one slipped right past me...........

Still the granddaddy of all "Boy Racer Fantasy" stories was the Supra guy who claimed, in the span of 3 posts that

-He had the fastest tuned Supra in the nation
-He raced it on the street all the time because he lived in California and there weren't any legal places to race there
-He was the guy from the Dell Commericals (funny because it was BEFORE the real Dell guy was busted)
-The city of Chatanooga, TN did not exsist

#10, Rocketier Racer was a hoot. And he never could get his time straight.

"Mine is street legal, and it runs 8.37 with NOS. My friend and me built it."

Later it became,

"Bring it bitches, I run a best ET of 8.45."

That magazine I was talking about, BTW, the section was called something like "Speed Tales", and Ricestreet linked directly to it. I discovered it via Ricestreet a long as time ago (I know it was long ago, because I discovered Beaterz through Ricestreet's links as well, and Ricecop), but the link is probably still there.

#11, And I think he said he financed the whole project himself because he, of course, was independently wealthy and pulling down 6 figures

#12, He worked in an Acura dealership, and did some modeling and acting. "I did some Calvin Klien ads, and you know who that is in the Dell commericals? Me."

Okay, can anyone seriously imagine Ben Curtis in a Calvin Klein ad? Or better still, in an Acura dealership?

"Dude, you're getting deferred payments!"
