In my opinion, Chevy should just stop and cancel the HHR program... the SSR isn't selling that well, and the PT Cruiser isn't as popular as it was a few years ago when it was first released. So a retro Chevy PT Cruiser fighter probably won't sell well. Add to that the styling look pretty horrible.

#1, The PT Cruiser is still a hell of a strong seller, but I think GM is missing why it's popular. It's a practical economy vehicle with plenty of utility and attractive styling. There's really nothing else quite like it right now. This thing on the other hand is just going to be another big quasi-SUV, which the market is overloaded with at the moment.

GM seems to belive there is a market out there for wierd "quasi-cars" that are a little truck, a little SUV and a little sport compact all rolled into one, and they keep coming up with cars to "capture" that market, and I for one dont' even think it exsists......

I mean, the VIbe is just another minivan-SUV, but the way it's marketed, they're trying to make it into this hip and trendy "youth market" car, and it's just DOOMED to fail......it's a chick SUV, that's it

Same with the Equinox, they figured, hey, the Tracker/Vitara sold well, all we have to do is clone it, ugly it up into an amorphous plastic jellybean and BAM! Instant youth market appeal!!! Notice how they had that pepsi promotion to win a new one?

Again, GM managment doesn't know what they hell they're doing, or even what kind of vehicles they think they should be making...

I wonder what market the SSR was the supposed to be appealing to? The same non-existent one as the latest Ford Thunderbird?

#6, I think it was supposed to be a Plymouth Prowler type of vehicle, a mid-priced "exotic" car for middle-aged guys with too much money....

The latest T-bird, which I'm probably gonna catch hell for by admitting that I didn't think it looked TOO bad, but it certainly wasn't worth what they were asking for it, was like the VW new beetle, hey boomers! Buy this over-priced modern take on a classic car you rode in the backseat of!

#8, I liked the styling of the T-Bird from the firewall back. It was the front of them I had a problem with.

GM is in a bad spot, they've kinda stagnated over the years, and their fumbling over the F-body line pretty much succeeded the youth market to Ford, I think they erroneously thought they could compete with the likes of Mustangs with sooped up "Sport Compact" versions of J-body cars and the Ion, and it's been a horrible horrible choice. Car makers live and die by getting a share of the youth market, otherwise it's the same thing that happened to Oldsmobile and Plymouth, you get an "old man's car" stigma that kills the line eventualy. And GM's attempts to court that youth market have been really lukewarm and idiodic.

The only person I know that has an SSR is an old man.

#11, The SSR is hugely impractical and overpriced.

#9, I like all of it, I just don't like the powerplant. if they had put the DOHC 4.6 I bet it would have sold a little better

I'll admit, I actually kind of like the HHR. If I were in the market for a compact wagon, though, I'd still rather have the PT Cruiser.

I like the HHR's styling better than it's counterparts, and I wouldn't mind having the "SS" version whenever that comes out.
