#7, The only ones I trust, I"ve tried a few AMT kits, and the build quality is AWFULL I bought a 68' Stang' from them, the front clip had huge gaps between it and the body, and I eventualy got disgusted with it and threw it away, I'm working on a 69' Fastback shelby stang' right now from Revell and it's going together much nicer |

#9, First and only time I tried a built it yourself kit was a Bburago 1/24 Viper GTS metal kit, lots of gaps and I put the stipes on all crooked. But that was about 6 years ago, I might try it again someday. |

#10, Practice makes perfect, I've trashed about just as many as I've tried building...... most of the ones I consider good enough for display are on the site here, you've probably seen them, as I pimp them ever chance I get :D
But of them all, only one is NOT a Revell kit |

I was at a 7-11 yesterday while my wife was getting us some Slurpees and a L88 Corvette drove up - out hops a middle-aged pudgy balding guy wearing shorts with long tube socks... woo-hoo! |

#9, Revell and Tamiya for me. It would be nice if Tamiya made muscle cars and the like but the quality of the kits is just so good. One of the things that I don't like about Tamiya is that not all of their kits have engine detail (curbside kits I believe) but that lack of detail is alwas madeup elsewhere (carpet insert, "carbon fiber" decals, mesh, metal transfers, etc...)

I usually buy AMT kits for the optional builds and the sheer selection of cars they immortalize in plastic. Their kits are a bit hit and miss, though. Some of them are great, some don't go together quite right. |

alternate builds aren't my thing, I bought what I bought because I wanted a little plastic version of that car, I can always buy parts if I want something to be different.
edit: and this is one of the recent models I've built

I can't buy model parts. :( I get all my kits from Wal Mart, and they don't sell them.
Guess I could order them online, though. |

Online is the only way to go for most of the cool model stuff. I need to order some 40mm masking and rubbing compound before I start my next one. |
