What is the deal with those "USA - 1" tags? I've seen those on so many old musclecars for so many years and I have no idea what they are.

Probably some refference to the "see the USA in your Chevrolet" ad slogan chevy used to use...

i tried that.

But all i could do was my block and the cock-sucking heater spews green rad fluid all over the passenger side floor!

i didn't actually try to make it down there. I just wanted to head into the city.

Radiator coolant is green, the only way you can get it into your passenger compartment is by blowing the heater core, and it drains in through the vents, that's what I saw right off the bat

That sounds like the problem.

Seening how you have a Firebird - I wondered how hard it would be to get to the heater core on my Z?

Hmm, It's been my experience that NO car has an easy-to-replace core, I'd consult a service manual, it's not going to be hard, just probably a bit of a wrist-bender to get it done. The core will be on the passengers' side of the firewall, inside a black plastic holding box.

Thanks Low-Tech.

Unfortunetlly the previous owner (who incidently never had the car signed-over to him so that makes my the 2nd owner!) never even had the friggin' manual. Sadly i had to resort to a near-by canadian tire store to get an an after-market service manual. The even worse news is that it only covers the V6 models - the berletta - and the other 305 EXCLUDING the LG4 which is what i have (dagnabit!).

I also lost the friggin' manual thing (probably in a fit of rage). How much do new heater cores cost?

#18, Blown heater cores are a common malady for the 3rd gens, I knew a guy who owned two second hand 6 cyls, both blew thier cores. I've never priced one, I get mine from junkyards, but they don't strike me as an expensive part, to replace it, you have to open that plastic heater box, and then disconnect the old core (it'll look like a mini-radiator) go to a NAPA store and get a Haynes or Chilton's manual for your car, it'll be worth it in the future if you ever have to re-wire anything

#19, I have a Chilton book for my Camaro. It explains everything you need to know about it.
