Old school racing was simply absurd.
Safety? Huh? You meant speed? Yes, please.

#6, That just reminded me of the "chase" scene from "Space Mutiny" (one of the best MST3K episodes ever)

PUT THE TOP UP! PUT THE TOP UP!

#7, Ever see the MST3K episode "Mitchell" ? It's from a bad cop-drama movie from the mid 70's, and in one scene Mitchell, driving a BIG dodge sedan of some kind is following a guy who's also driving a very BIG Town Car from the same era and they make a joke to the effect of "Oh gosh, they're traveling at speeds in excess of 30 miles an hour!"

Racing back then actually had balls. Same as everyone involved in it. Like when Jochen Rindt crashed at turn one at Indianapolis, then dragged his own charred ass out of his car and offered the ambulance driver a cigarette.

Today, racers are a bunch of overprotected mama's boys. Safety has taken a lot of the bite out of racing. The way I see it, when you're getting paid that much to drive a car, there should be an element of danger involved.

#9, Still got some tough racecar drivers out there... back in 2002, Johnny Benson broke his ribs two times in two separate crashes, but kept coming back.

One of my favorite quotes of all time is from Formula 1 owner Paul Williams, in an interview after crashing (on the road) in France and being left paralyzed.

"So I'm in a wheelchair. Tough shit."

#13, Wasn't he that short guy from Smokey and the Bandit? Or am I thinking of that other singer, Andy Williams?

#14, That was Paul. He also wrote "Rainy Days and Mondays", "Just an Old Fashioned Love Song" and the theme to Love Boat.

He's not to be confused with Paul Davis, the late '70s one-hit-wonder from my hometown who did "I Go Crazy".

#15, Ah, ok, so that was Paul Williams in S&tB... he also appeared on Dexter's Laboratory as a piano teacher, and they drew him the same height as Dexter, with a very similar appearance XD

Was actually a pretty good episode, they did some really nice music and songs...

There is something wrong with modern racing/rally drivers. The whining, complaining, crying... The goddamn stupid excuses, very ricer-like.
"The tires were too cold"
"The brakes were too hot"
"The engine was too weak"
"The damping was too strong"
"The rain was pouring"
"The sun was shining"
"The track/stage was rough"
The last complaint drives me crazy. What are you thinking, you stupid fuck? The others drove on it too!!! SHUT UP YOU PUSSY!!!
F1 Racing magazine had an article about Ralph Schumacher's moans. Sweet Jesus this guy is such a faggy pussy. The biggest asshole among performance drivers. Period.
