Description:
Cut-away of 1.3 Multijet turbodiesel. 70HP. Cool. Unless you realise that gasoline turboed 1.3 would have twice the power... Diesels in small cars still suck for me and no technology is going to change it.

My sister drives a Citroen AX with a 1.5 NA diesel. Sucks big time. When started the engine rocks the whole car and suspicious creaking can be heard from the dashboard. Plus imagine this: tiny, very light AX with all that clunking from under the hood. A sorry sight.
BUT... My uncle's Volvo 940 has a 2.4 straight six turbocharged diesel and it matches the car perfectly. Plus it's not that slow (when the turbo kicks in that is).

I love the 1.9L turbocharged diesel in my jetta. The gas might make twice the power but the diesel probably gets a lot more mpg and thats what most people worry about now a days. You want a quick car don't buy a car with a 1.3L engine.

#2, Near me, at least, diesel is as cheap, if not cheaper than, regular unleaded. Sometimes I wish I had a diesel car. Hell, I'm driving a 92hp car, it's not like I'm not used to driving an underpowered car.

diesel here is way more than even premium, and that pisses me off...whats the reason for that?

regular - $1.90
midgrade - $2.00
premium - $2.10
diesel - $2.25

anyway, 70hp from a 1.3-liter diesel is pretty damn good, seeing as how 1.9-liter diesels in the current vw's have 90

#8, Don't forget, this is a turbodiesel. What really pisses me off are magazines comparing gasoline engines with turbodiesels screaming "Look, it's faster than gasoline!!!". No it is not, because the gasoline engine is not charged.
As for VW... don't forget, they made the 115HP 2.0 litre thing... and put it in GTis >_<

One more thing: in Poland last year there was a guy running a 190HP FWD turbodiesel Skoda Fabia RS. The thing was SLOWER than 130HP cars running in the Peugeot cup (1.6 206s)... Diesels fast? No friggin way. The useful rev range is hopelessly small. When a typical gasoline engine goes OK from 3000 to 6000 RPM, the turbodiesel goes well from 1500 to 3000 RPM... and needs an upshift. Pathetic.
