This car in its normal form is aother reason why I hate ford. I dont know if any of you know but, Ford worked out that it would be cheaper to keep the car the same than redesign it so it was safe. This is considering that they worked out how many people would sue them for makeing an unsafe car. There was about $20 000 difference if I remember correctly. Thing is they got caught out. Someone found the documents stating this and they got a pay out that was huge. So in fact it would have been cheaper for Ford to fix the car. |

Yeah, they referenced that in "Fight Club," although according to that film, that's still going on. |

I wonder how often it gets mistaken for a 'Stang with that paint scheme. |

put a blower on top of this and i would be all over this, i just think it would be great that if i got beat in my stang to pull over and tell the guy that beat me " give me 10 mins and i'll be back with my pinto" then just wait to see the look on the guys face when i pull up in this

#10, But keep in mind it's always the bean-counters that wind up having the final say in a car's design, and apparently few manufacturers are immune. Take the Corvair, for example--if they'd splurged and put a decent set of swaybars on the rear, they wouldn't have had all those problems with the suspension buckling. Then there was that (debatable) thing with GM truck gas tanks in the 80s-90s, and what allegedly happens when Ford's SN95 Mustangs (convertibles, especially) get rear-ended.
In the end, no design is perfect, but most of the flaws are known before the car gets into consumers' hands. And, unfortunately, in the end, it's still a business, and they're going to go with what makes money. |
