The MxCx wants/should get a new air intake thread.

Stock intake sucks, cut part of it out, found out its illegal now, so Im seriously considering a cold air intake..

So whatchall think about it? Wont really affect my decision to get one, but Im just gauging the general opinion of the idea. Also, CAI or SR?

My vote: Get a proper CAI and slap it in.

Thats what Im thinking..only thing I dont like is the minute chance of hydrolocking when it rains. I have a tendency to go through somewhat deep puddles on purpose >_<

Which means Id probably spend even more to get a bypass valve just as a preventative masure.

Glad I don't have to worry about inspections or anything of the sort. All I have done with the intake on my stang, is the air silencer is removed. Whoopie.

For Every 10 Vehicles that wont pass inspection there are 5 inspectors that will charge you 10 bucks more for a sticker. All you have to do is find one (:

Uh... call me a stupid ass (no, wait. Don't) but what is this thing in the side of the bumper?
As for intake: go for a simple sports flat filter: 100% legal, safe and fuss free. Won't hurt and can even help somewhat. Cones simply suck on many, many cars. I wouldn't put a cone on my car unless I had a dyno nearby. Often the diameter/lenght of the tubing has to be changed...
As for water I saw a tuned Opel Astra GSi going through a puddle during a club rally. It had an aftermarket turbo installed. At first I didn't get it. Why the hell is he doing EVERYTHING not to go through this puddle? Then I knew... He splashed a little water, it must've gotten into the low mounted intake and the car almost died. It was choking for 20 seconds or more. LOL.

#14, The thing inside the bumper is a big enclosed box that the filter apparently draws air from. Dont as me why, ask Honda.

Well, I just got a CAI off ebay. Sounds like the chances of hydrolocking are incredibly minute, and the bypass valve would almost negate the gains from the cai, so wish me luck.
