Just another attempt to make Scions hip to salvage a less-than-stellar selling vehicle.

#6, Actually, that statement is off... Scions are selling as well, if not better, than Toyota had hoped. But still, a vehicle that has WORSE power-to-weight ratio than my Mirage, not to mention the aerodynamics of an Amana side-by-side, and some teenage dumbasses think this is a tuning machine?!

#7, the Scion certainly hasn't er, penetrated, the midwest much. I've only seen a few around here.

#9, seen too many in MN. Luckily most of the ones I've seen are AutoZone and Checker Parts' "tuner" cars.

#7, Last I heard, they weren't doing well, and were barely selling at all to their intended market. The only people that are buying them apparently are people over 40 trying to be hip.

#8, The darn little boxes are everywhere here in PA, well, at least in my town where there's plenty of academics and college kids dying to look trendy....... nobody's riced one, yet........ and I'll have to go against the grain and say that I LIKE the boxy styling, in an era where jellybeans and and oddball ellipses rule, the purist in me is loving a car with 4 recognizable corners on it

Have seen absolutely NONE of them over here... maybe there is a special EU law protecting us?

#12, I think car companies have to stop thinking theres a youth market out there for unconventional cars like these, and the Vibe/Matrix cars (a little suv, a little car, a little minvan, a little sport car)

I'm also amazed that chevy has somehow managed to duplicate Edsel in the last few years in that they've become convinced that the reason their cars don't sell well is because they lack an identity, and need to be made really really really ODD to get the point accross

There's not that much of a "youth-market" for any new car, really. 20 year olds typically don't buy new cars. Most can't afford them.

#17, If a car company really wanted to sell a new car targetted at the "youth-market", they should sell something very cheap and simple... like the Dacia Logan.

http://autoweek.com/article.cms?articleId=101647 Check out that base price (!!)

#17, Bingo, the cost of entry-level cars is amazingly high, even considering inflation, plus with things like insruance and gas money, your typical 16 to 24 year old can't go down to the dealership and walk out with a new car like they did in the 60's and 70's

Mitsubishi got in real trouble because they marketed the new Eclipses at the youth sector, and gave out generous loans, and had to eat a lot of them because an alarming number of 19 year olds who flipped burgers for a living started defaulting on them

#18, It may be a Dacia, but I think a car like that would sell pretty well here. The closest we have to entry-level cars in the U.S. is the Kia Rio and the grossly overpriced Chevrolet Aveo.
