I heard once that the Storm was originally designed as a replacement for the Camaro, but then again I've also heard the same thing about the Beretta.

#8, No, that one's actually true. It's been confirmed by some of Ford's former top brass. The Probe was being designed to replace the Fox-body 'Stang, but when that fact was leaked to a few Mustang fanatics, the uproar and outcry was so loud that Ford instead put a different name on the car, and just mildly updated the Fox-body 'Stang. The Fox-body Mustang was only supposed to be a short-lived model, but it ended up lasting, in one form or another, until 2004.

#9, yep the Probe Mustang was being built to fight the sport compacts coming out of Japan. Thank God the news leaked and the FWD Mustang never happened :-)
