Riverside opened in 1957 and played host to numerous auto racing events from all major organizations, from CanAm to NASCAR untill it's closure in 1988 as suburban sprawl devoured it. Dan Gurney, Roger Penske and Cale Yarborough all raced here at one time, and thier names still remain as the names of streets in the residential subdivision that took it's place |

If you ever get a chance to race it in any of the sim games that have this track, you'll see how much fun it used to be. The Esses are a lot faster than they would seem at first glance, and that LOOOOONG straightaway really gave the cars a chance to run, all before jamming into a banked right-hander before the finish line. A classic track and one that's still missed today. |

THere were dozens of road course tracks all over SoCal in the 50's and 60's, sadly, most of them are gone today, only Sears Point still survives from that era, the rest, Riverside, Vacaville, Ontario, have all fallen to the bulldozer plow. |

Every dying race track is a sad sight (yes, even a drag strip). What makes these places special is the amount of emotion that filled the air thruout their history. Happiness, anger, pleasure, pain, passion... it's weird old race tracks aren't haunted. |
