Description:
Trabant 601.
Now, let's bust some myths, shall we?
Steel chassis (!!!) covered with Duroplast panels, 415 liters of trunk space (!!!), total weight: 615kg, four-on-the-tree, FWD, two-cylinder 600cc two stroker, 26HP@4200rpm, 54Nm@300rpm, engine weight: 54kg (!!!), drum brakes, 2.5 turns of the steering wheel lock-to-lock (!!!), good for 100kph.
It was't half as bad as it is said.

There was a "Trabpolo" version near the end of production with a 1100cc four-stroker from VW Polo.

These things were easy to tune so racing a Trabi was quite common:

People often thought it was really all-plastic and they rarely checked the underside for rust so it actually happened a couple of times that the car broke in half o_O

Sometimes, they went as fast as unbelievable 125mph. Scary.

#2, Uh... not.
In a crash test, it fared BETTER than most cars of early 90s. Think Golf, Escort and my Tipo >_<

The hell?! Trabants are actually respectable cars?! I thought they were rear-engined....
