What's crazy is that even though they were sold as subcompacts, they were never particularly economical.

Yet with the optional 304 V8 and the 3-speed manual, there was a time in the mid-'70s when they were one of the quickest American cars.

#5, One thing that sticks with me to this day is Car & Track's review of the Gremlin, noting how the shortened Hornet rear leaf-springs made the handling unpredictable.

I still love the Gremlin for its quirkiness and unique styling, but I can't help but think it was kinda half-baked with unfinished engineering.
