You cannot improve the rear panel of an early Mustang. They already looked perfect. I've seen plenty of dickweeds attempt to put Thunderbird or Cougar tails into otherwise nice early Mustangs, but it always ends up looking like shit.

#4, It's for the Shelby look, most likely. Some of the weirdest Mustang lights I've seen were in the style of a first-gen Firebird, and other was identical style to the stock lights except that there were 5 red sections in a chrome surround on each side. I've also seen one with the bezels removed and flat, rectangular red lenses with rounded corners flush-fit into the taillight panel.

I've seen setups where someone removed the right and left bulbs of each of the mustangs taillight clusters...it looked bizzare
