Description:
NASCAR Racing 2003 Season by Papyrus/Sierra games.

It is doing something very few other videogames have done. It is actually INCREASING in value. At last check, it was at $90 at Amazon, and you can't score a copy on eBay for less than $70.

Why? EA's buying of an exclusive NASCAR licence in 2004, and continuing to put out crap games. Fuck you, EA.

a year and a half ago, it was going for $15.99 on clearance shelves. Coulda made a lot of money by buying up a bunch of copies and waiting... damn.

Also, this is one of the most fan supported racing games in history. People keep paintschemes/teams/drivers updated VERY well for download. There are also numerous "mods"... TransAm mod, IRL mod, GT Prototype mod, Touring car mod, Sprint racing mod, Craftsman truck mod, ARCA/Busch series mod, Late-model mod, 1988 mod... and custom/updated tracks are everywhere, and it is THE NASCAR game to play online with.

...and no, I don't have a copy of it :(

If it's that valuable, I'll see if I can get some copies in the bargain bins at Staples or other PC stores. Around here Nascar games just collect dust.

I'm running the GTP mod in two different leagues. It's the best sim racing ever, IMHO, and that's high praise since it finally won out over another Papyrus game, Grand Prix Legends.

It's a shame that the same people who produced these games became a group called First, which is now threatening to sue anybody who does any more mods on the NR2003 executable. They've gone from being the most loved people by the sim racing community to the most despised.

#7, yeah, but wouldn't the mods extend the life of the game, sell more copies, and get more people aware of the company?

#8, They CAN'T sell more copies, that's the problem. All the copies that were sold before 2004 are the ONLY ones that could be sold... EA would sue them like crazy if they tried producing new copies of this game. The developed the game, but they no longer could sell any more NASCAR games, so they probably became really grouchy and disenchanted, so they want to lash out at the world.

Papyrus is dead in the water. All they ever produced were NASCAR games, and EA killed them with an exclusivity conract. Again, fuck you, EA.

EA used to be a cutting edge software company in the 80s - great games, great ideas...

now they are the Microsoft of the gaming world

#10, They have absolutely NO games based on original characters. Every god damn game they have is a licence game. They're trying to monopolize the popular-real-life-sports videogame market. I really think there should be an anti-trust suit against them.

EA has also developed a pretty bad reputation as a coding sweatshop. They're one company I'd never want to work for.
