This is the car that sort of led to the F40, right? |

#3, Yep, only 5 built (or 6?) they were going to use them for Group B rally racing. Power ranged from 500-660hp.
I can't imagine driving these 500+hp rwd beasts off-road.

#6, Good article; thanks! I love the F40 and its brethren; supercars from an era before everything had to have ABS, driver and passenger airbags, traction control, and all that other stuff. They just somehow seem so pure. |

#7, No prob, I like what they wrote about the Group B 959: "The sissies of Stuttgart played it safe 4wd, traction control, power steering and ABS."

I don't know if you've been watching Top Gear since Discovery finally started airing it in the US, but Clarkson did a comparison between today's supercars (Enzo, Murcielago, Carrera GT) and some from the '80s-90s (McLaren F1, XJ220, F40) and I think he summed it up best--the Enzo is definitely faster around a track, as are all the modern supercars, but the F40, in particular, remained the one he wanted most. It lacked sophistication, but was just somehow more fun for that reason. |

#9, Like I always say: Too much refinement is the enemy of the enthusiast's car. |
