oversteer sucks too...understeer is safer if you exceed the car's limits by a slight margin...other than that, it sucks

#1, Well, but in oversteer you can do SOMETHING: countersteer, declutch, punch it, lift off...
With understeer you can only try to shift the weight forward by lifting off or braking SLIGHTLY and pray: dear lord, give me another 5cm or road so the tires can get some grip before that tree.

I prefer a setup that can transition between mild overster and mild understeer depending on throttle position. Either one can get you in trouble if it bites you at the wrong time.

understeer: You go straight off the road into the church and die.
oversteer: You spin around and slide backwards into the church and die.
Oversteer is better because you don't see the church you're about to slide into and die.
