Description:
1986 Pontiac Grand Prix 2+2

Whilst never as successful as the Monte Carlo Aerocoupe, on the street OR on the track, I've always loved these. I freaking want one.

I take it this one has a 502 instead of a 305? And yes, I want one as well.

I have seen a few of these. In fact, there's one in KC I see at Windsteads everytime we go there.

Isn't the trunk opening ludicrously, comically small?

#6, Yep.

And I thought the trunk opening on my current Camaro was small...you'd have trouble fitting a 12-pack in that hole.

#8, Holy crap; worse than I thought XD

I regretted what I said because I remembered my dad's Mk3.5 VW Cabrios had a very small decklid, but the opening underneath was surprisingly large.

#8, All this time I thought it was a hatch like a 3rd gen - but fuck practicality!

https://perfauto.tripod.com/images/ve_got_mail.jpg

But there's still a panel gap between the glass and the body. It implies the hatch opens. What gives?

#10, I'm guessing that gap is a vestige from the regular coupe's fender and panel stampings. These aerocoupes, though really neat in appearance, were quick-'n-dirty modifications simply to compete with the Ford's Aerobird in NASCAR.

I wonder how difficult it would be to convert it to a hatchback?

It's even more bubbly and fastbacky than the Monte Carlo.

This link shows roughly what the underlying architecture looks like.
