One of my favorite videogames of all time. Streets of Rage 2.

as far as 8/16bit fighting games go, i think i used to play street fighter back in the days on my tandy game system (basically a nes)

hmm...what good fighting games are on the N64? *trying to think* i feel like playing one

The best/easiest character was axel. All you had to do is punch a few times and do that running uppercut as a combo and the lifepoints of the enemy will be null.

Got disappointed when I found out about that combo.

Comparing Apples and Oranges. 'Nuff said.

This was a side-scroller beat-em-up... NOT a mano-e-mano (or mano-e-computo) single area figher.

#8, Well, ambient was talking about Mortal Kombat 4, so I threw in SF2

#8 wasn't a specific reply to anyone, just the fact that this thread veered to a different type of game.

I used to be a sucker for these side-scrolling beat-em-up games. Final Fight and Rival Turf were my favorites.

They tried to revive the genre in the late '90s with a Playstation (and later N64) game called Fighting Force. It featured full 3D areas and limited-use firearms and explosives. Reviews were mixed, so I never did fool with it.

I would like to see another attempt at a 3D macho beat-em-up, though.

My friend downloaded this game on her Wii's virtual console... we played the hell out of it... still great fun.

I even have a newly redone techno version of the first stage's main theme on a CD... play it in my car a few times.
