The best/easiest character was axel. All you had to do is punch a few times and do that running uppercut as a combo and the lifepoints of the enemy will be null.

Got disappointed when I found out about that combo.

Comparing Apples and Oranges. 'Nuff said.

This was a side-scroller beat-em-up... NOT a mano-e-mano (or mano-e-computo) single area figher.

#8 wasn't a specific reply to anyone, just the fact that this thread veered to a different type of game.

I used to be a sucker for these side-scrolling beat-em-up games. Final Fight and Rival Turf were my favorites.

They tried to revive the genre in the late '90s with a Playstation (and later N64) game called Fighting Force. It featured full 3D areas and limited-use firearms and explosives. Reviews were mixed, so I never did fool with it.

I would like to see another attempt at a 3D macho beat-em-up, though.

My friend downloaded this game on her Wii's virtual console... we played the hell out of it... still great fun.

I even have a newly redone techno version of the first stage's main theme on a CD... play it in my car a few times.

...and this game has been announced as part of the library for the Sega Genesis Mini. I already pre-ordered that system, so that's just icing on the cake. Unfortunately, it appears Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles will not make it on the system, as licensing rights for the music used in that game have become a legal quagmire :(

...hell, I toss this in here, as well https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrF3WPi_7uI
