Badass, didn't these things have 289s w/ 5 speed ZF transaxles? Or am I just thinking of the road car? Holman Moody built one with a 427 medium riser with aluminum heads and intake and a cast iron Ford block.

I think the original MKI prototype had a 289, but I'm not really sure.

#2, I'm pretty sure most of the late sixties GT40s Mk1s had a 289 pushing 320 bhp at around 5K rpms, they had top speed of just under 170 mph if I'm correct. I keep thinking about the Mark IV though, which had a 427 pushing 500 horses at 5K rpms. It was a redesign of the Mk II.
