I though it was an old Skyline at first.
#1 when the Z first came here, the first shipment was badged 'Fairlady'. MR K, the president of American Datsun didn't think that Americans would buy a sportscar with that name, so he personally changed the badges on every car in that lot before any got sold. Oh, and there were 500 in that lot. |

#4, Economics, I assume. It probably would have been difficult, in the case of this car, to price it between a 510 and a 240Z, assuming that sort of market would've even existed here at the time.
Trying to keep it from being more expensive than something like a Maverick Grabber with a 302 would be tricky too, since most consumers would assume they're getting more for their money with one of those. |
