I heard about this in PHR. Projected price is $110k US for a V8, and $60k for a V6. |

And it's just bland enough that they will never sell a damn one of them. |

#4, we have it already. As the GTO. This is on the platform that underpins the Holden Monaro. |

I think GM needs to learn that the reason nobody is buying cars like the GTO and the LaCrosse is not due to preconcieved notions of foreign cars being better (as GM execs have said repeatedly), but that the cars are damn boring to look at. The LaCrosse makes the added mistake of being boring to drive.
Cars like the Camry can get away with being boring because people have the idea that they're basically indestructable, but to sell new cars these days you've really got to try to get someone's attention. |

#8, the LaCrosse is ugly, and Car and Driver said it drove like shit. The Camry is supposed to be a semi-boring car. They're intended for families with kids and mothers and stuff like that. |

#9, Well, that's pretty much the market the LaCrosse is aimed at. But a Camry was a fairly new-looking car when the first version was released, so boring styling has basicaly been grandfathered in (after they developed loyal buyers). The only way for Buick to make their own Camry is to build something that doesn't look like a rental car sitting on the showroom floor. And the LaCrosse does.
From what I remember of C&Ds road test, they said the same thing about the LaCrosse that they said about the Ford Five Hundred....that it's a competent and well-built car, just not interesting or exciting in any concievable way. |
