#1, Makes sense... quite a few diesels have been converted to run on soy-based products, IIRC, and cooking oils, etc...

#2, Yeah, but doesn't Canola oil cost like 7 bucks a gallon?

#3, It's the principle of the thing...and really, 7 bucks a gallon... that's not much more than what gas goes for in Europe. (Even though, yes, I know this car isn't in Europe)

#4, Call me a skeptic or a cynic or a pessimist, but I'm assuming the MPG on a fuel that's usual task is to fry pancake batter isn't that great. And if everyone ran out to grab Canola oil it would create a shortage just like gasoline, I think these people have good intentions but c'mon.

I was thinking of making my own Biodiesel for my Jetta. You can get used oils from fast food places really cheap if you have a way to transport it and then it only costs a fraction of regular diesel. Its even better for the car because it is a better lubricant for the fuel pump and injectors. People also say the car just runs better on well made biodiesel.
