It's really called the 787SP, SP for "Special Performance", and is a shortened version of the 747... to give you an idea, here's a rough, but accurate comparison between it and a 747-8I.

#1, Another comparison shot I've put together... I had read that the A318 was considered the "Baby Airbus"... but it still looked quite large to me...

...but then I compared it to another Airbus, and, well... http://photo.ricecop.com/pics/airbii.gif

#4, Airbus now makes a plane smaller than the A318... the A220.

The A220 started life as the Bombardier CS100, but Airbus stepped in at the last minute and bought a majority-stake in the project, rebranding it as one of their own planes.

From what I can gather, not only is the A220 an excellent plane, it's potentially *too* good... it's not *that* much smaller than the A320/319/318 line, but is a far fresher, more efficient design. Despite the updated neo (new engine option) variants of the A320/etc. line, the A220 appears poised to cannibalize sales. Airlines have been clamoring for Airbus to push forward with an oft-rumored stretched A220, but that would put it in DIRECT competition with the A320 line.
