May I misuse this marvellous piece of work to have my euro-ass educated on Mustangs?
Cobra Jet
Cobra
Boss
Mach 1
Which one is the fastest? And, if time permits, what are the general characteristics of each strain? |

#4, I'm going to assume you want the first model year of production for each type of Mustang:
1968 Cobra Jet: 428 cid; 335 bhp @ 5600 rpm, 445 ft-lbs torque @ 3400 rpm; 14.254 sec 1/4 mile
1999 SVT Cobra: 4.6L displacement; 320 bhp @ 6000 rpms, 314 ft-lbs torque @ 4750 rpms; 13.4 sec 1/4 mile
1969 Boss 302: 302 cid; 290 bhp @ 5800 rpms, 290 ft-lbs torque @ 4300 rpms; 14.6 sec 1/4 mile
1969 Mach 1: 351 cid dispacement; 335 bhp @ 5200 rpms, 440 ft-lbs torque @ 3400 rpms; 13.9 sec 1/4 mile

#4, Cobra Jet was more like a trim level. any FoMoCo car with a 428/429CJ engine was known as a Cobra Jet
Cobra (just sticking with FoMoCo) started out as not much more then a sticker package, it wasn't untill SVT started making them in 93 that they became a higher performing version. since then the Cobra has always been the halo car of the model line, any given year the Cobra will be the best performing stang
Boss was used back in the late 60s to make the 302 Mustang legal for Trans Am and to make the 429 "hemi" legal for Nascar. then Boss name was around for 3 years 69-71 (however the 429 Boss stopped in 70) but IIRC the 71 351 Boss was just a trim package (it still had a better version of the 351, but I don't think it was to make the car legal for racing)
Mach 1 has always been the midway point between the GT and the current halo stang |

#6, also while the Boss name has been used since, it was in more a tuner sense more along the lines of Saleen and Roush, I don't Believe Ford had anything to do it. the was also the kick ass Boss concept with the 10 liter big block under the hood |

#8, Yeah, they were basically trim packages for the last iteration of the 5.0L Ford engine, designed by Larry Shinoda and team Shinoda. |

#12, Congratulations. Perhaps, by now, you've noticed that I usually delete trim and accessories unless they actually are an integral part of the car's styling. :p |

It's incredibly versatile, sort of like the one that begins with the letter F. |
