I hate Pro Street cars for their sheer uselessness. Yeah, I'm going to hop in one of those and go to the store for milk and eggs.
I prefer vehicles that can be driven for more that 1320' (plus return lane) at a time. :p |

I think it might be the redneck in me but I've always liked Pro-street, I know the cars aren't good for much outside of driving a straight line. But I've always been kinda impressed with how much power some dragsters could produce, espescially top fuelers. Would I turn a Saleen Mustang into a dragster? Hell no, I build up some old beater car. If nothing else drag racing is fun to watch. |

Power alone does nothing to impress me. |

#6, Ditto.
What impresses me is driver's ability to control a car. When I see a vid of a 900hp car I'm almost bored (what, another dyno queen?), when I see an on-board video from a racing/rallying/autocrossing car it gets really interesting. Even if it has only 100hp. |

I think half the fun of Pro-street cars is driving them on the road. its like that video of that all out drag stang going to BK in the snow. to me that would be a blast just cause its so stupid. |

I like drag racing but I couldn't really think of a way to defend it/express my feelings about it, so I decided to quote something kstagger said in that one Camaro drag car thread back in October. Let's hope he doesn't mind :p
"I enjoy drag racing - it brings a host of technical problems that must be overcome. Lots of suspension setup, traction issues, different engine combinations, etc. The roar of the big-block, the nitrous purge, the supercharger whine... it's addicting when I'm at the drags.
It's not an easy as it looks to get a car to hook and go straight down the track. Now would I want to drive a drag car for everyday? hell no.
I would like something that is well-rounded and can handle fairly decently well (but still ride well) and be able to go fast in the straights."

I favor total balance. I won't argue that drag racing doesn't present its own technical challenges, but I believe that a vehicle should be enjoyable doing practically anything on the road. Although the noises of drag racing may present their own visceral thrill, I would also argue that a car properly set up for road racing can give you one hell of an adrenaline rush. |

I must get a ride in that Pro-street GN I posted. Even though part of me wished it wasn't a real GN, I need to experience that beast. |

#6, seconded, I just don't see much skill in drag racing, although it can be entertaining, it eventually gets boring from time to time, I like a car the has a wide variety of racing abilities, as for look, I prefer the touring car look.

#15, Well if you've got an automatic trans then no, it's just a matter of pressing the gas. But drag racing with a manual does require some shifting skill to get the optimum rpms, and to not fuck up the clutch of course. |

I favor both extremes. so to me the answer is simple, own lots of cars. that way I can get all my fixes :-) |

#16, Now couple that with braking and cornering... it takes at least twice the skill.
But to each his own. Plus, I think bracket racing can be a lot of fun.
I'm biased because in Poland we don't have bracket racing and drags are all about who's got more cash to spend not about driver skill. |
