The light-up grille was an interresting styling cue for the Mercs that had it (and the select cars over at GM, that had it too) Sad thing is, they look really awful when they start to suffer from that aged plastic yellowing "glaucoma" effect.

#2, grille right? The GPs had the whole light up front as did Mercury Sables. It does look rather shitty, even in daytime.

The last smog record for this car was in 2006. I wouldn't be surprised if it's long gone by now.

Tracers/Escorts of this era are pretty sturdy little cars, the one I had as a "fleet" car at my job lasted all the way up until it was plowed over by a SUV whos driver was too busy on the phone to see the stop sign.

Well, they *are* a Mazda. Maybe that's why the engines run long after the body has given out.
