Really wish they had stuck with the Revolution name... that was actually a really cool name.

The console itself looks pretty damn cool, but I still don't know what to think of the "controller."

Wii is a wiik name if you ask me. If they really wanted it to sell they should have called it the freedom or the patroit.

How do you pronounce Wii? Is it like "wee"?

And as far as Nintendo goes, they're gonna have to do some serious shedding of their kiddie image to compete in the next console war. I heard this thing can emulate software from every other nintendo platform which is cool for nostalgic gamers, but bad for 3rd party developers who want to publish new titles

#7, Either I just don't get your point, or it's wrong to begin with.

My PC can emulate just about every Nintendo system up through the N64, and yet, oddly, that's not bad for developers who want to make new PC games. Just because they've got emulation does not imply that it's going to be a bad system to develop for.

#9, No, I'm saying that people might just download and play SMB3 or Goldeneye for 5 bucks on this thing rather than paying 50 or whatever bucks for a new game. And before we get into this "but the PS2 was backwards compatible" nonsense, keep in mind that many 1st and 3rd party titles for the N64 and Gamecube didn't sell worth diddly squat

I just don't see it being a problem; even the better sellers from the N64 and Gamecube are going to look kinda lackluster by the time this thing comes out. If backwards compatibility encourages more people to buy the platform, then it's a larger installed base for companies to sell their new games to.

#11, I'm not denying that it is a good idea, hell, being able to play Donkey Kong or Starfox whenever the urge strikes is totally awesome, but the fact is that this feature might cannabilize the sales of newer software and make it harder for 3rd and 1st party titles to find an audience which, as I stated before, wouldn't be a problem if Nintendo was as popular as Sony or Xbox. And if you still don't see it my way, think of this, why spend 200 or whatever dollars on a system just to play old Nintendo games? Why release a new system for only that purpose when you can just get an Emulator for my PC from Limewire? I think Nintendo must take a step forwards with software instead of relying on classic titles. We wouldn't be playing awesome games like Gran Turismo 4 or Halo if Sony and Microsoft's key selling points were the ability to emulate classic games.

If that was a little wordy I apologize

#12, But some of the bigger selling points for Sony and Microsoft have been the ability to play their old games. And while not supported by MS, the Xbox itself is probably doing much much better since it can have the ability to emulate many games. This doesn't seem to be slowing down game companies at all, or consumers for that matter.
Likewise with computer systems, jsut because there are a million games available, and that can be had for free or extremely cheap has not stopped companies from making many new games, or people from buying them.

It's official: They have run out of console names.

Pretty soon they'll do like car companies, and it'll be the Nintendo 689DiiTS V-Spec/G-Spec/D-Spec Type R.

#13, Yeah, but I'm just worried that the public won't focus on Nintendo's next gen offerings as much, seeing as how the Gamecube was such a failure, but sales are sales I guess
